Nearly two years ago an old college friend resurfaced in my life. I had not seen nor heard from her for over 25 years. She found me through an Internet search and for reasons not entirely clear she felt like it was time to look me up. After a few re-acquainting e-mails she began sending me the “messages”. In the beginning, she would send one, then two every so often. At first glance you could tell that the thoughts and expressions were uncommon, yet familiar. They were very personal and spoke to my soul.
As I contemplated the messages, I never found any of the content to be in conflict with the scriptures or any Church teachings. On the contrary, the messages echoed past catechisms taught in grammar school, but this time was presented in a personal, authoritative, and loving way. This reminded me of the New Testament writings that described Jesus’ teachings as “astonishing” and as “from one who had authority”. There was more though, because within this familiar framework these words expressed deeper thoughts and revealed more information. Information that was not always obvious but none-the-less true.
This deeper level of communication if you will, went right down to the soul and affected my spirit. Was it not written that His Word could separate body, soul, and spirit? His Spirit, in my spirit acknowledged His Truth. I knew it was He inside my interior self. My mind also testified to the facts and the source, you see I knew that my friend was credible. Our college time together included the usual “academic” activities but more importantly a spiritual element, as both of us were “Reborn”. Jesus Christ reached out to us and came barreling into our lives. Now, reading His words, my soul jumped for joy. My very self knew I was cornered by His ineffable love. His Presence, imprinted by the words was undeniable.
As the messages continued, each was anticipated eagerly. When was the next one to come? When it arrived it was devoured as bread by a famished soul. The Life it stored was incredible. The revelations, the tremendous love were now portrayed in all its glory. He explained how He felt; how we have hurt Him and yet beckoned us to return home. He gives us specific instructions on what and how to come back to Him and how to stay with Him. The Volumes are arguably the best road map to Christ and holiness outside the New Testament. Often, He makes bold promises, which He has delivered upon if a soul will commit to Him. You see, He wants us back and has taken the trouble to write us an eight-volume invitation.
To all souls, no matter what your spiritual relation to Christ, this is simply a required read.
